My greenhouse is a disgrace too. I can see it from the kitchen...

I planted honeyberries last year and they did zilch. I'm hoping they do something this year.

My idea involves using a ladder and your planters on each step there's enough room for aeration and plant growth. The water trickle doesn't always work but the wick idea may. I have several raised beds and I have problems keeping the water in the bed It has a tendency to run off I've tried the mike jug and so far that works the best. I have seen strawberries grown this way. Good luck.

Add me to the 'abandoned the greenhouse without clearing/cleaning it' list... I think it was because I had chillies and peppers in there still fruiting quite late into Oct/Nov. At least that's my excuse...

My to do list has only one item on it - get out there! :)
Like you, I abandonned the greenhouse in autumn and it shames me each time I walk past to see the chickens. I might just get the chickens in there for an afternoon.

Thanks Louisa! I've just spotted this (only two weeks late...) I used a big sharp knife and the soap crumbled, but I got some good big rustic chunks. I'm going to stuff the crumbs in an old sock and use them up that way.

I don't darn, but I do cut my old socks into strips and french knit them with a large dolly made out of a cardboard tube and icy pole sticks. When I have made enough lengths I sew them together into rugs, kind of like the American braided rugs. I hope this translates into other countries. I am not sure if what we call french knitting in Australia is the same elsewhere.

Get well soon. If it's the same lurgy I've had, lots of sympathy.

Perhaps we should rebrand it as how many consumer items do you worship and why. For me it's my Gransfors Bruks Small Forest Axe or GFB SFA as the devout refer to it on the interweb ,and my Handol Wood Stove, which they don't appear to sell any more. Apart from that I have nothing personally that I wouldn't trade for another similar item of some other brand.

The 15 items smacks a little of Mother hen baking the bread. Its all fun and games with his macbook and iphone up until dinner time.

I made this yesterday lunchtime with a really nice seeded and grainy flour and it tasted fabulous with our soup. I decided to have some more about 6 hours later, only to find that the seeds in the bread had all turned green, is this a reaction from the soured milk? The flour was in date and had no sign of any problems and I soured the milk with vinegar.
